Sodium terbium(III) polyphosphate
Single crystals of the title compound, NaTb(PO(3))(4), were obtained by solid-state reaction. This compound belongs to type II of long-chain polyphosphates with the general formula A(I)B(III)(PO(3))(4). It is isotypic with the NaNd(PO(3))(4) and NaEr(PO(3))(4) homologues. The crystal structure is built up of infinite crenelated chains of corner-sharing PO(4) tetra-hedra with a repeating unit of...
متن کاملDensity of Molten Terbium Chloride
Anhydrous (99.99%) TbCl3 was obtained from Aldrich (Milwaukee, WI, USA) and used without further purifications. It was handled in an argon-filled dry box with a water content < 2 ppm and an oxygen content < 1 ppm. A 166Ho radiation source (2.27 MBq) was used because of its desirable decay characteristics (t1/2 = 1200y, up to 8 photons per disintegration, more than 10% branching ratio). A multi-...
متن کاملTerbium-based extreme ultraviolet multilayers.
We have fabricated periodic multilayers that comprise either Si/Tb or SiC/Tb bilayers, designed to operate as narrowband reflective coatings near 60 nm wavelength in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV). We find peak reflectance values in excess of 20% near normal incidence. The spectral bandpass of the best Si/Tb multilayer was measured to be 6.5 nm full width at half-maximum (FWHM), while SiC/Tb mul...
متن کاملMagnetization and Magnetostriction of Terbium-scandium Alloys
Lattice parameters, magnetization, thermal expansion and magnetostriction of a series of single crystal and polycrystalline specimens of Tb-Sc alloys have been measured. The various experimental observations are examined in terms of the single ion theory of Callen & Callen and the magnetoelastic energy evaluated for the various compositions.
